American Mink - Mustela vison The American mink (Neovison vison) is a semi-aquatic species of Mustelid native to North America, though human intervention has expanded its range to many parts of Europe and South America. The American mink differs from members of the genus Mustela (stoats and weasels) by its larger size and stouter form, which closely approaches that of martens. It shares with martens a uniformly enlarged, bushy and somewhat tapering tail, rather than a slenderly terete tail with an enlarged bushy tip, as is the case in stoats. Males measure 13–18 inches (34–45 cm) in body length, while females measure 12–15 inches (31–37.5 cm). The tail measures 6–10 inches (15.6–24.7 cm) in males and 6–8 inches (14.8–21.5 cm) in females. Weight varies with sex and season, with males being heavier than females. In winter, males weigh 1–3 pounds (500–1,580 g) and females 1–2 pounds (400–780 g) Maximum heaviness occurs in autumn. ![]() Striped Polecat (Zorilla) - Ictonyx striatus The striped polecat (Ictonyx striatus, also called the African polecat, zoril, zorille, zorilla, Cape polecat, and African skunk) is a member of the Mustelidae family (weasels), though in actuality, it somewhat resembles a skunk. The name "zorilla" comes from the word "zorro", which in Spanish means "fox". It lives predominantly in dry and arid climates, such as the savannahs and open country of Central, Southern, and sub-Saharan Africa, excluding the Congo basin and West Africa. Striped polecats are about 60–70 cm (24–28 in) in length, including their tails, and 10–15 cm (3.9–5.9 in) tall to the shoulders on average. They weigh anywhere from .6 kg (1.3 lb) to 1.3 kg (2.9 lb), generally, the males being the larger of the two sexes. Their specific coloring varies by location. Generally they are black on the underside, white on the tail, with stripes running from their heads down their backs and on their cheeks. The legs and feet are black. Their skulls are usually around 56 mm (2.2 in) long, and they have unique face mask coloring, often including a white spot on their head, and white ears. These masks are thought to serve as warnings to potential predators or other antagonists. Like other mustelids, the striped polecat is a carnivore. It has 34 sharp teeth designed for shearing flesh and grinding meat. Its diet includes various small rodents, snakes, birds, amphibians, and insects. Due to their small stomachs, they must eat often and have clawed paws to help them dig around in the dirt in pursuit of their next meal. ![]()

Mink may be fierce little bastards, but the Zorilla has the upper hand hidden in its rear. The Zorilla, though a Mustelid, sprays musk like the Spotted Skunk it resembles. Most Mustelids, such as the Mink, only whiff or poof their anal gland secretions, but this Polecat here, is different and actually processes the ability to fire its musk. The animal's musk is said to be the worst of any animal, a truly choking and tear-jerking liquid. The animal's musk has put it in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Smelliest Animal on the Planet. The odor is so strong that African tribal hunters use the liquid to mask their human odors when hunting. I have also read on an African zoo page that the zoo's Honey Badger escaped its enclosure and ended up in the Zorilla enclosure. It was stated that the Honey Badger took a shot of musk to the face and the Zorilla made the Honey Badger give a fuck.

in my opinion the zorilla should win more times than not since it is able to spray musk, though this won't be an easy fight. |
