Wolverine - Gulo gulo The Wolverine is a stocky and muscular animal, considered carnivorous but known on occasion to eat plant material. It has glossy brown hair with stripes of yellow along the sides. The fur is long and dense and does not retain much water, making it very resistant to frost in the wolverine's cold habitat (this has led to some popularity amongst hunters and trappers for its use as a lining in jackets and parkas). The adult Wolverine is about the size of a medium dog, with a length in the usual range of 65-87 cm (25-34 inches), a tail of 17-26 cm (7-10 inches), and weight of 10-20 kg (22-45 lb). Males of the species are as much as 30 percent larger than the females. In appearance the Wolverine resembles a small bear with a long tail. It has been known to give off a very strong, extremely unpleasant odor, giving rise to the nicknames "skunk bear" and "nasty cat." ![]() Human - Homo sapiens Humans (known taxonomically as Homo sapiens, Latin for "wise man" or "knowing man") are the only living species in the Homo genus. Anatomically modern humans originated in Africa about 200,000 years ago, reaching full behavioral modernity around 50,000 years ago. Humans have a highly developed brain and are capable of abstract reasoning, language, introspection, and problem solving. This mental capability, combined with an erect body carriage that frees the hands for manipulating objects, has allowed humans to make far greater use of tools than any other living species on Earth. Human body types vary substantially. Although body size is largely determined by genes, it is also significantly influenced by environmental factors such as diet and exercise. The average height of an adult human is about 1.5 to 1.8 m (5 to 6 feet) tall, although this varies significantly from place to place and depending on ethnic origin. The average mass of an adult human is 54–64 kg (120–140 lbs) for females and 76–83 kg (168–183 lbs) for males. Weight can also vary greatly (e.g. obesity). Unlike most other primates, humans are capable of fully bipedal locomotion, thus leaving their arms available for manipulating objects using their hands, aided especially by opposable thumbs.

So they're smaller than your average pit bull, which is far more impressive, which means that if you kick, choke, step, or jump on it you're probably going to win. |

Interesting. Any explanations why the Wolverine had comparable votes against the AWD which itself was winning against the human? Bad votes or a match up thing? |

Just because one animal can beat another one doesn't mean it can beat anything that the other animal can beat. It could be well equipped to take down that one animal, but not to take down the animals the other animal can take down. Anyway, people where probably using a small Dog against the Wolverine and a big one against the Human. Or maybe Wolverines are just that overrated and only the non-overraters have posted here yet. |

" It could be well equipped to take down that one animal, but not to take down the animals the other animal can take down." This is what I'm interested in. Why would a AWD be better equipped than a Wolverine to kill us? Why would we be better equipped to kill a wolverine than an AWD? |

AWD have a much harder bite than a wolverine, and wolverines are much smaller. We are better with the advantage of strength, agility, intelligence, speed, durability(?), and a significant size advantage. |

Did you all see the size comparisons Taipan posted? All of those wolverines are big enough to do real damage to a human. Eurasian badgers have inflicted serious wounds on adults: Badger injures five Have any of you seen the documentary "Wolverine: Chasing the Phantom:"? It has renowned wolverine handler Steve Kroshcel playing with a and reared male gulo. The wolverine was not only much more sizable than i thought they were, it was also leaping up on Kroschel whilst they sparred, reaching as high as his chest in some cases. Theirs also another scene in that documentary where they showed Kroschel's wolverines scampering up his back and climbing on his head like squirrels, if those wolverines had the intent to cause injury there would have been little Kroschel could have done whilst in that position. The wolverine is being underestimated here, 30 kg pitbulls have killed adults, a same sized wolverine has the potential to inflict life threatening injuries on the average human. |

A human definitely has the capability to kill the Wolverine, but I think theres a pretty good chance that shock and panic will take over when the Wolverine starts ripping into the human's leg. 6/4 in favour of the human. |

"but I think theres a pretty good chance that shock and panic will take over when the Wolverine starts ripping into the human's leg." Cute. In the real world, adrenaline leads to people often failing to notice their serious injuries. I've seen MMA fighters fail to notice their ripped eyelids and (open) broken toes. |
