![]() The next morning we all drove out to a friend's game farm to spend the weekend. Shortly before arriving at the farm gate, we came across a fresh leopard kill of two wild dogs. One was still quivering and taking it's last few breaths of life. Colin got out of the truck to investigate but quickly got back in after seeing the leopard tracks. Wild dogs and leopards are competing predators and will often kill each other. This time the two wild dogs were no match for the leopard and the fight only lasted a few seconds. http://yukoneagleair.blogspot.ru/2011_07_01_archive.html |

I wonder if the 2 dogs attacked the leopard in a mobbing attack like they normally do and instead of climbing a tree the leopard decided to stay and scrap.

Maybe he ambushed one, then a few moments later attacked the other or the dogs just tried to attack him. Anyways, poor lycaons, the one in the picture looked beautiful. And the leopard once again impresses me ! Any more information about the leopard and the two wild dogs ? Edited by Koolyote, Nov 1 2013, 02:22 AM.

Aren't wild dogs always together though? I wouldn't be surprised if a leopard fended off an attack from their pack. |

I know it's weird, but we know nothing about the three animals. And I agree, a leopard wouldn't even dare to attack a pack of at least six wild dogs. |

We don't know the details of the attack, lets stop the speculation. |

Some times they aren't together, but mostly because a member gets lost and can't find the pack |

Wouldn't be the first account of leopards fending off multiple attackers. They're quite good at it. |
