I have never heard of a reliable account of a pack of wild dogs killing a lion.

Its funny how Wild dogs give hyenas the exact same grief as they give lions. Though Lions kill hyenas, I have never heard of a hyena killing a wild dog. Must be too quick for them.
There have been accounts of wild dogs killing lions, under what circumstances of the health of the big cat and ect. are unknown, but even a healthy animal would be too outnumbered.

As for hyenas killing wild dogs, it has happened, but those dogs are quick to get out of the way.

Here is a good account of a young male leopard(proven) charging into a group of dogs and about killing one pup with a single paw swipe, luckily the leopard was agile and quick enough to escape(not as lucky as the one in the beginning of the topic.) Then hyenas come in and finish the job.

We had just entered a small valley, while the dogs, ahead of us of course, were making their way up the other side. The first strange thing I noticed was that they were all looking back into the valley, and then started running back down. Before seeing anything I remember hearing someone saying “Oh my god, a leopard is attacking the wild dogs,” and then I saw it. The leopard, who we later found out was the Maxabene 3:2 Young Male, otherwise known as Pinky – named so because of his extraordinarily pink nose, had charged straight into the pack, targeting a young pup. We had seen this pup minutes before frolicking with its siblings, tumbling here and there on the road, but now, with one great swipe of his paw, the leopard had incapacitated it entirely. It was an attack born of desperation and was not to go unavenged – the entire pack turned and pounced on the leopard, refusing to let him finish the job. They got him down on the ground, as I watched in horror, trying through the tears that filled my eyes to bring my camera around to capture the tangle of bodies. He writhed and wriggled somehow out of their grasp and bounded up a tree out of reach within seconds. My heart was in my mouth and I almost didn’t know where to look, till a sudden high-pitched scream filled the air and someone yelled “Hyenas!” My camera moved almost before my eyes, and my finger was pressed down hard on the button, trying to capture digitally events that were moving too fast perhaps for my memory. With the pack focused on the leopard, hyenas had appeared within 20 seconds, sunk their teeth into the injured pup, killed it and begun to make off with it. The pack worried the hyenas for a few seconds, snapping at their haunches, but soon realizing there was no hope for the pup, they cut their losses and ran. The safety of the four remaining pups was paramount.

shocking, tiny leopard, but I am convinced such a big pack of dogs even kill a large leopard, of a lion.

I wonder how something like this (75-85kg) leopard would have fared in the same situation

Nothing impressive at all, a youg female or a sick juvenile leopard. If there was a 70 kilo male leopard, those shitty mongrels will run away, no matter how large was the pack

Those painted wild dogs your referring to in such a bad manner are on the endangered species list and are in their own right an amazing African animal.

They deserve a little more respect than what you referred them as. A pack that large or a little larger would still kill any size leopard, if the leopard could not escape, then it would surly die, if the dogs were not intimidated.

Whistling dogs of Asia and their interaction with tigers, leopards, and sloth bears.

the difference here in my opinio is that a big tom would manage to escape

The difference in my opinion is that they wouldnt seriously mess with an adult male leopard.

If the dogs aren't intimidated, a large African Wild Dog pack (5 or more) could/would easily kill even a leopard of that weight.

Not at all, I'v seen wild dogs , they are smal, thin, light weight, inferior to eurasian wolves in may aspects. Not a match for a cornered male leopard.

1. Stop being a propagandist

2. What do Eurasian wolves have to do with any of this?

3.the are also superior in many aspects:hunting, running, slicing, not to mention that they interact with large predators on a daily basis.

4. Awds are NOT small, they just have long legs for running faster. A your wonderful "wulfs" also have a thick fur coat.

There is really no need to respond romanianborz after seeing "shitty mongrels" in his sentence.
