I'm really surprised the adults didn't intervene. Perhaps it's the smell of predators that drives them crazy and not the distress of their young. The buffalo is not a carnivore, so it didn't trigger a defensive response.

Poor elephant.. I wonder where was the mother, usually female elephants defend their young ferociously.

That is hard to see a baby elephant to get caught and seriously wounded... But where was the pride ?

The article said that the Elephant wasnt "seriously injured." They also said that they older, more mature elephants, saw this as a life lesson. The young Elephant came on too strong for the buffalo and whilst it looks dramatic it is something that every young elephant must go through apparently..

If the pride was near of the baby elephant, the buffalo would never touch it...

"More mature elephant saw this as a life lesson": that is a personnal interpretation which binds only its author. And I'm not agree.
