:o What the....... young female leopard attacking a full grown Lechwe, proberly around 120 kg , 4 times her size at least, very young, small leopard..

While on a game drive in the north-eastern section of the famous Okavango Delta we came across two male red lechwes fighting. We watched them for about ten minutes before one of the males, who was visibly tired, admitted defeat, turning around and running away.

The winner of the fight chased the loser until he stopped and fought for the second time, however what they didn’t see was a young female leopard hiding in the bush close by.

The leopard started to stalk the fighting lechwes before launching an attack on one of the antelopes. However the red lechwe was too big for her and managed to escape, after a short battle trying to get his hoof untangled from his horns.

It's quite impressive that the small leopard managed to make the lechwe roll around even though in the end it didn't succeed, but also we must consider that this was an ambush and that the antelope was fighting another male, and we can see in the sixth picture that the other male was still attacking its opponent when it had a leopard on its back, so the other lechwe may have helped the leopard make its prey roll around. Also that's a pretty ballsy leopardess (if that make sense lol ) I guess it was starving to attack such a big prey.

Nice find.

The leopard jumped on his back, fell off his back and tripped the Antelope with his body, thats why it rolled over, not from the power of the Leopard.
