^ I would have to agree, especially if smilodon really did live in prides as they are often depicted.

Domestic cattle are the only prey options in S. America large enough in size and population to support smilodon. |

And I don't think people would be happy about sharing their whopper with Smiles... |

Smilodon seems too much, as their prey species greatly changed. |

@Allosaurusatrox, If a smilodon wanted my whopper then I'd gladly share it with him or her. It's better than being impaled on a ziphodont canine tooth.

Don't worry, plenty of us here can take a joke. They just happen to not be on very often. I'd also have to agree with you, There's just not a large enough enviroment with a surplus of huge ungulates. |

I don't think there's enough large ungulates in all of Africa to support Smiles. |

Ok now that's pushing it. Anyway, I think resurrecting the species that went extinct bc of human activities would be ok, though we shouldn't bring back animals that couldn't adapt. Having said that I'd love to see A. ingins in a zoo, my favorite animal hands down! |

Well, who's to blame for the drought of large ungulates? Not smiles. |

that'd raise......issues. political, humane, human rights, slavery, etc issues........i think packs are more accurate than prides. id say something similar to the social structure of feral cats. all the cats are the same size and will compete for females attention without killing cubs. Domestic cats don't, though they do a communal feeding if the kill is large enough. We had a feral cat group at my place in the country, about twenty or so, the big males would bring back enormous rabbits and the whole clan would eat until the leg bones were all that were left. |
