I think I had once came across an account of a house centipede killing a mouse? Not sure if it's reliable/true though.

I think the person who wrote this might be exaggerating though, as it seems he/she didn't really know what it was before he/she was answered as to what it was, and house centipedes are quite small. But it would be pretty impressive of the house centipede if it actually killed the mouse.

The top one appears to be S. subspinipes, they can reach up to about 250 mm in some subspecies. Hard to say what species the bottom one is without seeing more of it my guess would be S. cingulata, but it could be S. alternans, S. morsitans or any number of other species.

I have a S. subspinipes in my collection, also an S. polymorpha, my next pede will hopefully be an S. heros. Although if Peter gets some more S. alternans in I may opt to get that first. Before I do either I need to get my American Southwest vivarium restocked, my velvet ants have passed away.

Obviously scavenging here too, but still neat.

it was just a herbivore 300 millions years ago but imagine if it had be carnivore it would probably even eat utah raptors but it looks too slow moving to be a predator but i doubt any carnivores messed with it and if they did they probably got seriously hurt trying to do anything to this monstrosity
