Is that actually a giant asian hornet? Just questioning it because it looks to be way too small in comparison to the dragonfly to be one. |

It's too blurry, shadowy, and shaky for me to tell much about the hornet. There are some massive dragonfly species though. |

That is Anotogaster sieboldii which stays under 4 inches. Couldn't be a japanese giant or it would be way way bigger proportionally. |

Considering that A. sieboldii is a Japanese native, I agree that if it is V. mandarinia that the dragonfly is killing it's probably japonica. The hornet doesn't look half the length of the dragonfly though. |

All I can say on this is that I know that the Asian predatory wasp is often confused as Asian giant hornets. But it doesn't look to be this species of hornet either. The Asian predatory wasp can be found in Japan. |
