Wild boar vs dhole:

"The hunter becomes the hunted: Armed with a back pack, a dependable camera, a sun hat, great company (Dr. Sangeeta Dhanuka, Suraj Das and Nishit Gokarn) and the plan of 6 safaris in 3 days, my expectations from the trip to the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve were extremely sanguine. The trip not only yielded great sightings of the eponymous striped ruler of the Indian jungle, but also threw in some surprises for us like witnessing this battle for food and survival between two indefatigable opponents – the wild boar and the wild dog. Wild dogs don’t take kindly to gate crashers. On occasion these ferocious hunters have been known to scare away even tigers and leopards. On our second safari inside the reserve, we saw five-six wild boars feasting over a sambhar killed that very morning, as our guide informed us, by a pack of wild dogs. The wild dogs weren’t too far away – waiting to strike and scare away the audacious pack of swine. But what ensued in front of us was a fight between the hunters trying to reclaim their kill and the upstarts who had no intention of giving up a free meal. The wild dogs even reclaimed their meal once and quickly settled to devour it but a pack of ravenous wild boars was no match for them. The wild boars out-ran, out-maneuvered and out-lasted the wild dogs, who eventually conceded defeat. For the duration of my engagement with the scene, I tried to capture with my camera as well as I could, the high-drama I was witnessing. I returned from the safari that afternoon thrilled and a little bemused thinking that at least sometimes in life there is such a thing as a free lunch!"

It's from Whales, Dolphins, and Other Marine Mammals Of the World a Princeton (one of the most respected universities in the world) field guide.
