Monitor Lizard are potentially dangerous with their razor sharp claws (which got the eagles' side underwing) strong bite and by thrashing violently the powerful muscular whip like tail can inflict serious injury.

Amazing set of photos Mulawin.
First two set of photos look like Varanus salvator bivittatus and from colouration of the scales seems to be an adult animal.
The third photograph is hard to figure out which Water Monitor sp. it is. The head shape seems to suggest a younger animal and the colouration seems to only suggest a younger animal unless its just an individual who has some amazing yellow markings.
& the forth and fifth looks like another different monitor. The black is more bold here compared to the third photograph.
The last picture (fifth) does indeed show and tell how claws on monitors can indeed be deadly. Especially within a struggle.

The photos speaks for itself and the eagle would fare so much better in a fight than a cat (even medium size cats) against a Lizard of this size.

These Lizards are tougher than you think

The bear is lucky, the fox probably wasn't hungry.
