If that above counts as average human we should downgrade humans a few tiers on battle threads. Or upgrade monkeys |

mother alligator chases heron, saves one of her young Heron vs. Alligator: Not What You’d Expect! Birds & Blooms is known for featuring amazing bird stories, but usually the birds are the heroes of the stories. This one is a little different – the birds are actually the “bad guys”, and the victim is an enormous alligator! ![]() Claudia Kuenkel lives in Central Florida, where alligator sightings are not unusual. Florida residents know to keep their distance from alligators, so when Claudia saw some interesting alligator and heron action, she knew to stay back, shoot with a zoom lens, and hope for the best. What she got was amazing – and not what she expected at all! Clearly, this heron had grabbed bigger prey than it reckoned for, and had trouble taking flight. The mother alligator (and a very large one, at that) continued the chase. ![]() Upon zooming and cropping the images, Claudia discovered that a Great Blue Heron had snatched a baby alligator, probably not realizing the mother alligator was nearby. Mother gators are very protective of their offspring and will defend at nearly any cost. So… she went on the attack! Finally, the heron dropped the alligator baby, but it seems another heron was actually waiting nearby, ready to take a very risky chance! ![]() Fortunately, by now the mother alligator had taken up position directly over the baby (you can see it under her tail) and the herons gave up. Victory for the alligators! ![]() Interestingly, alligators are usually predators of herons, not prey. They are known to gather under the tall trees where herons nest, waiting for nestlings to fall or fledglings to take a first bumbling flight… right into an alligator’s waiting mouth. Large alligators are also known to eat adult Great Blue Herons from time to time. http://www.birdsandblooms.com/blog/heron-vs-alligator/#ixzz40lGXFAOU grouper takes on a lionfish Edited by Ceratodromeus, Feb 21 2016, 01:43 PM.

^^^would be nice if you could post links to the sources behind those pictures...for contextual purposes....if the bottom two are falconry birds, then that's animal cruelty, as far as I'm concerned-seeing how wolf pups are used to train eagles for 'wolf hunting'...
