Perhaps that has something to do with this?
This is in Florida. It's not a traditional flash like on your phone. The camera has a dim red light and takes pictures in black flash.. it comes out like this but when standing next to it in darkness all you see is a dim red light.

It's crazy to see the size prey guineafowl can take. Look at it just snatching up a caracal by the face and flying off with it.
