Puma attacks dog off screen :-/

Quote:

"My daughter yelled 'Mountain lion...grab the flashlight!', which I did on my way out the door with my other son-in-law, who didn't hear the 'mountain lion' part. The mountain lion and our dog had tumbled behind one of the cars and we yelled and banged the shovel behind them. I then blinded the cougar with a bright, strobing flashlight, it looked up and the doge got away and ran onto the porch, followed closely by my son-in-law with the shovel. My son-in-law and I both raised our arms and yelled, but it would not retreat, so we moved back around the car towards the house, briefly losing sight of it, but hitting it in the eyes again with the bright strobe as soon as we regained sight of it. The dog escaped with several puncture wounds, bites, and scrapes."

Could be a lot more serious than the Honey Badger being a 'bully':

"This seems like typical Rabies behaviour. I saw it in Etosha many years ago where a jackal attacked gemsbok, elephant and other jackals. He died shortly afterwards. Over the next few months I saw 8 jackals die of Rabies.
This badger seems to be behaving in very much the same way.
Although the shot of the badger drinking... Was it actually drinking or just putting it's mouth in the water? Rabies causes paralysis of the swallowing muscles, so they can't swallow. They're desperate to drink but all they can do is put their mouth in the water.
The emaciated state of the badger is also typical of Rabies. They can't swallow, so can't eat or drink.
"

^ Thats from Kim Wolhuter, a reliable source on African Wildlife.
Damn....Hope the Badger didn't bite any of the other animals...Otherwise they may be goners aswell...
