Given that scaled animals would have radically different proportions I do not think this topic makes any sense at all.

1) This is always difficult to compare the strength "pound for pound" of same family animals but with some very different size. According these basis, small animals are often the strongest.

2)You report a leopard killing a bull eland. OK, but an exceptionnal performance doesn't make a rule (without adding we don't know all about this killed eland).

That being said, among big felines the strongest pound for pound could be the jaguar, the strongest among small felines the clouded leopard. Possible !

The poll is a complete mess and devoid of any form of logic.

Regardless, I voted for tiger, if "pound for pound" implies that all big cats must be scaled to equal size, rather than the measure of strength proportional to their natural size.

1 Jaguar or Leopard. Most powerful pound for pound cats. Most impressive cats.

leopard-jaguar-clouded leopard
the leopard is faster much more agile (at least then the jag)
and can tree kills
the jaguar can drag as much as the leopard on land yet can't tree kills
the clouded leopard is a mini verison of the too
the puma is very strong too

From several studies i know that chimps can pull about 3.5-4.6 times their body weight. A wild lion pulled 3.75-4 times body weight. I would imagine that, in a general sense, most similar sized or larger creatures wont exceed that strength, proportionately.

in overall pulling i go jag.
but leopards have a harsh life they need to be powerful pound to pound like badgers
same for cougars.
