![]() ![]() " As a gift from graduating from high school, my dad took me to watch some wild brown bears (Ursus arctos / fin. karhu). We spent one night in a tiny cabin, outside there were some baits for the bears and we just had to wait and hope some bears would appear. This is the first photo I took from the first bear we saw. We had been waiting for two hours when my dad suddenly said "There's a bear." I couldn't really understand what he was saying, I just looked at him as if he had gone crazy :'D Then also I saw huge legs behind/under one bush. The legs were the only thing we could see from the bear, it was a pretty creepy feeling just to stay and watch them when the bear stayed still. Then it slowly came closer and finally closer than 30 meters (less than 100 ft.) to eat. It stayed close to us some time and then calmly moved away. And I have mention: I thought it was a scary moment when that bear was less than 30 meters from us, so I can't really tell you how I felt when another big bear came closer than 3 meters (less than 10 ft.) Yeah and I had to tell you that seeing only the feet of the bear reminded me from a Moomin chapter where a ghost is standing on Moomintroll's belly and they can only see its feet. Maybe I have seen that series too many times " LINK Edited by Megafelis Fatalis, Mar 16 2013, 06:15 PM.

Love the face on this one:![]() One with a Bison: ![]() In this remarkable capture from above, we see a grizzly bear guarding a massive bison carcass. The photograph was taken by Doug Smith at Yellowstone National Park. Smith, who is the leader of Yellowstone’s Wolf Project, suspects that the bear happened upon the recently deceased bison and has now assumed ownership of the meal against other would be diners such as wolves [Source: BettPratt.com]. It’s a remarkable site of two majestic animals. Great capture Doug! http://twistedsifter.com/2012/09/picture-of-the-day-a-grizzly-bear-guards-its-meal/ Edited by 221Extra, Sep 16 2012, 08:00 AM.

Where? Not in your quote. A different bear approached them closer than 3 meters away-nothing regarding size (other than big) was mentioned. I think that bear looks young. |
