I recommend following the link and reading the story. The equipment was rented-good thing the guy had a back up camera, otherwise LensRentals might not have bought the "it was attacked by a grizzly bear" excuse!

A large species Mammut during the Pilocene, that was fossil recond in Europe and Asia. According to Greek' fossil , we know Mammut borsoni shoulder high about 3.5 m, incisors about 4.3 m. In China,also found Mammut borsoni, but most material is only single molar, the best material is a jaw.

A large species Gomphotherium, Life in late Miocene, found

A small~medium size rhino,they are mainly distributed in the late Miocene ~ early Pliocene of China. Their nasal bones has a towards the front and very small rough surface, this indicate Shansirhinus ringstromi have a very slim little horn. Their tooth enamel drape is very rich, this indicate Shansirhinus ringstromi main feed C4 plants.

(Palaeoloxodon naumanni)
Palaeoloxodon naumanni is a species large Palaeoloxodon, widely distributed in the east Asian region during the late pleistocene. Palaeoloxodon naumanni fossils main found in most parts of the north China, the Korean peninsula and Japan, but in south China, even in China taiwan, also found many fossil.

China and the Korean peninsula's individual body very huge, they incisors length can often to 3 m, according to fossil material recovery,China and the Korean peninsula individual shoulder high often up to 3 ~ 3.5 m.

But in Japan, its population size is smaller, male individual shoulder high in 2.15 ~ 2.7 m, and female the height of 1.9 ~ 2.2 meters. Although some scholars think should be Palaeoloxodon naumanni build several subspecies, but at present about may exist subspecies level difference between China and Japan rarely discussed.
