It has only held on for very long, I'm not aware of any paleontologist claiming that it got that big, the Cleveland-Lloyd Quarry specimen became the holotype of C. dentisulcatus, with a femur 759mm, some 22% bigger than that of the C. nasicornis holotype that was at least 5.5m maybe longer (Scott Hartman said that it was 5.8m long) so the big one is in the range of 6.7 to 7.1m.

Some other "sources" say that the 8.8m specimen is not C. dentisulcatus but MWC 1 which is the holotype of C. magnicornis... but that one had a femur just 630mm (C. nasicornis holotype is 620mm) so it is just false.

Gasosaurus = ~ 3.5m - 4m
Bengal Tiger = ~ 95cm - 115cm tall at the shoulder

Size Comparison between Gasoaurus and Bengal Tiger.

Kelenken based on the 71cm long skull (in my comparison it has ~ 70cm long skull, but i don't think that 1cm would make a big deference) and The Bengal Tiger is ~ 95cm tall at the shoulder.

Thanks for bringing those amazing comparisons back, Dino Mike!

Theropod, do you really believe a 12m dromeosaur being possible?
I have a hard time imagining it

Remember that it looks bulkier with the feathers, and that it is the most bulky dromaeosaur, so I don´t think it´s inaccurate, nor do I think that the animal would be slow. Even hippos are very fast.

@sam1: I´m not the one who came up with that 12m utahraptor. It´s from this page: http://dml.cmnh.org/2003Jul/msg00355.html
I myself don´t really believe in it, it seems a bit exagerated to me, but who knows. I included it because I though when I´m doing a scale, showing all possible size estimates can´t hurt.

Keep in mind how slender a bird is when you remove the feathers.
