Hmm the zebra species names are off.

A) Equus quagga, B) Equus grevyi C) Equus zebra, D) Equus africanus.

An unfortunate mistake in a peer-reviewed article.

A few numenclature mistakes in this picture. First, Equus burchelli was the binominal denomination of plain zebras for many years and the quagga was considered a different species from plain zebras, which is no longer considered right so the present denomination for plain zebras is Equus quagga because is the oldest name given. So a) is a plains zebra (Equus quagga), b) is a Grevy's zebra (Equus grevii) and c) is a mountain zebra (Equus zebra), the common names of b) and c) are in wrong position on the descrition.

Could you post those studies that established the above numenclature, and whether they are accepted by all researchers, so we can tidy any discrepancies we have on the board - thanks.

When I have time I try to find some and post here or in the plains zebra profile, but this change dates back from the early 90's when the first studies were made.
Its pretty much accepted, I have a few books and only the older ones put the Plains zebra under Equus burchellii.
