I've been thinking about this for the longest while. Are there any species which hunt underground in the same manner than weasels do? If no, then, why do they have such morphological similarities? I do know that members of the genus Herpestes do share stink glands in the same manner than Weasels do. What are some other similarities?

Certain mongoose species (eg Banded) live underground (i.e. in old termite mounds), so I'm sure they are not adverse to killing prey underground, but I would suggest the practice may be infrequent.
