I worked with two Bornean females, and although I rarely use this word, they certainly were cute, until they got angry of course. The agonist vocalizations of sun bears are pretty terrifying. I put it up there with a tiger roar. (I had the same viceral, "run for your life" response to both) |

@Mauro20 Sun bears are beautiful, there's no doubt about that. They're probably in my top 15 favourite animals, if not my top 10. But compared to these three bears, sun bears are nothing but newborn cubs. Behold the polar bear, Ursus maritimus, Arctodus simus, and Ursus maritimus tyrannus. Note that UMT may not exist, but if it did, it would be one impressive creature, and probably the largest terrestrial mammal predator of all time. Here's a size comparison. |
