An impressive male from central India. During the big game hunting era big leopards in India were sometimes referred to as "gol baghs" which translates to spotted tiger. Looking at some males from the Indian jungles it's not hard to see why, not only are they physically very impressive but they also have beautiful bright reddish coats with large squarish rosettes. "We call him the boss and quite rightly so!!! He is the largest predator that roams the jungle in and around Reni Pani. These pictures do not do justice to how large his head actually is. Given that his territory overlaps the female and cubs we photographed last month, he must be the father." http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.462996823742032.100383.408890065819375&type=3 ![]()

He looks very impressive, too bad we don't see his head. Deep forest leopards are a treasure of discovery with big bulky males, far more impressive than the savannah one. Indians specimens too : ![]() ![]()

One is an alpha male.It is in the link of Londolozi. But at least even a 35 kilos alpha male it is less than hlf than tyson as you can see. "Seeing them preoccupied, the Marthly male tried to sneak away, but timed his run badly, as he was spotted by the Alpha male of the pack" Edited by Kurtz, Dec 18 2012, 07:14 AM.

Awd are quite tall in comparison to a leopard, but slim, that's why you find them "big". |

Some leopards in Indian zoos are quite impressive looking. Though they are captive, it's common for problem leopards in India to be captured and kept in zoos so these could have been wild born.![]() ![]() |

In summer 2012, i went to a french zoo near Paris dedicated to felines, and i saw a big male sri lankan leopard: On the left: ![]() ![]() ![]() It is not my shot, i will try to recover those i have. PS: The male was even bigger(more fat) when i saw him, and his tail was half off. Edited by ManEater, Dec 29 2012, 01:03 AM.
