Notice that huge males in @ over 60 or even more than 70 kilgrams have forelegs almost comparable with human legs! Like the leopard posted by chui from namibia and like menzi.
Chui correct me but circumference of leopard forearms can surpass 30 cm.?

Hey Kurtz, yes a big male leopard will have forearms with a circumference of over 30cm. In his book, Peter TurnBull-Kemp states that forearm thickness of a leopard generally measures 10-14 inches (25-36cm) "or about as thick as the calf of an ordinary man's leg". According to Wayne Grant (author of Into the thorns) a typical big male (150-160lbs) from the Matobo hills in southern Zimbabwe has a foreleg circumference of around 12 inches (30.5cm). For comparison, the average forearm circumference of an adult male Pantanal jaguar is 15.5 inches (39.5cm) according to Tony Almeida.

BTW great picture of Menzi. Do you know if he was the 75kg male weighed by the KZN study?

Also, here are some pictures of a big male which was apparently the biggest leopard captured by Waterberg Leopard Project and supposedly weighed 85kg. The reason I'm posting them is because the leopard actually doesn't strike me as being particularly large but I'm not sure if that's simply because of the angle of the shots or if it actually wasn't that big, maybe it's just utterly gorged. I'm noticing more and more that the angle of the shot as well as other factors can make a huge difference in how big an animal looks relative to humans even when we leave aside the ridiculous forced perspective shots commonly used by hunters. Photographs are no doubt very useful but they may not always reflect the true size of an animal.

Thank you Chui,

i've yet no idea for the males over 7 yers old weighed at Phinda who they are(all at minimum 70 kilograms).

Frodo, jika, Tyson(71kg.) and menzi were the biggest, but Frodo was weighed before was 7 yrs old and was impressive(75 kg. not published when adult and they given his weight only when he was Young a colossal 65 kilos at 2,5 yrs old!).
At this point jika or menzi are more likely if i had to bet my money, jika was tremendous.

If you Google menzi male leopard you can find even the larger pic of him on the ground than that i posted here ;)

Yes i've noticed that not only leopards but lot of animals(for example lioness etc.) seems smaller or bigger than they are when they are on the ground narcotized; anyway about the leopard captured by Waterberg Leopard Project well i don't know if all field researcher give always accurate weights on internet.
For sample i remember a filed researcher from namibia that gave the weight of 64 kilograms male leopard, but that male was by no means so big, it was a young male not larger than a female!! :-/

I chose the pic of menzi cause the position of tristan dickerson and other field researcher are perfect aligned
close menzi, very shame for the head

Sometimes the man next to the Leopard 1 has 90m high and makes leo look small if it has 168 leo mo will look great.

Good photos are close to jeeps

would that showed unique weights of territorial males, because in general leopards are heavy without discriminating age. .

well, i don't know if this is the right topic for to put this kind of captive leopards.
There is no great sexual dimorphism btwn male and female especially if we talk about head and bulid.
More the build of captive leopards it much more different with wild leopards even captured like this
anyway for sample:
wild captured sure large male

you can see larger head and much less body fat more muscle and another comformation respect these leopards above
