The forest kenyan leopard looks almoust identical to a jaguar...Definately more thickset and massive than south-african savanna type leopards. i wonder if in northern India and Nepal, the foste leopards had similar conformation and size like the east african forest leopards. |

Some screen captures from BBC's Wonders of the Monsoon which included a segment on Yala NP, Sri Lanka. This battle scarred bruiser is Ivan who is described as the biggest leopard in the park at 100kg which is probably just an over-sensationalization typical of documentaries. He is nevertheless an impressive looking beast like all of Yala's mature male leopards . ![]() ![]() ![]() This program also included some thermal footage of Ivan. ![]() ![]() Note this is a different program from National Geographic's Leopard Battleground which also used thermal cameras to film Yala leopards at night. The male featured in that documentary was a different individual and also very impressive. I posted some screenshots from that documentary earlier. A four-year lion's mane adult but is not yet complete. If a leopard grows up to seven years a leopard five years is like a small mane of adult lion still young. |
