Idube Reserve:
"The leopard that fought with a hyena was the Maxabeni 3:3 young male, he is fine but this turned out not to be the hyena in question, this one was fatally wounded by other hyenas in the same area that the leopard was seen."

Hi Kurtz,

i posted the same thing in the hyena Leopard discussion.
As you know there are some huge tom leopards in this region.
Kashane, Maxabeni (young leopard but killed a hyena before),Dewane, Xinzele, Xindlevhana (know for maybe killing a giraffe),Mashiabanj.

I put my money on Kashane, because his father Hlarulini Male was known not to be afraid to attack hyena's.

Yes marc,
I send mail to Idube, i'm waiting for details on everything.
Kashane is the most quoted, but may be Xinzele also

Thanks for posting the information and pictures in this thread. It is very intresting to read about and see pictures off these huge male leopards. In my opinion the most majestic animals in the world and I really like to see the explosive power off africas second most powerful land predator :)

I think it's awesome that we have a place like the Sabi Sands where leopards are observed so openly and with such regularity. This really provides us with a wealth of photographs and interactions which allow even casual enthusiasts like us to develop a much deeper understanding of the animal than would be otherwise possible. Having said that I to be honest have become somewhat bored of the Sabi Sands/Kruger leopards, it seems like we've seen them all and there isn't anything more to see. Yes new big males continue to pop up but it just seems like more of the same which isn't really a bad thing. But what I like about the leopard so much is that it comes in such variety. Having seen and learned from the Sabi Sands leopards I now want to see leopards from the jungles, mountains, and deserts in the different parts of the world and see how they have adapted to their own environments. Hopefully in the future with increasing eco tourism and research projects we'll get to see more of these other leopards as well.

I agree, more datas, observations, studies of the persian leopard , deep indian jungle leopard and equatorial african/aberdares leopard would be awesome.
