Not within seconds, but it could certainly overpower and kill one. Red foxes get the better of cats because on average they are bigger. A cat is stronger then a fox at parity. |

They take more impressive prey. Besides, squat has been observed in Dhole intraspecific interaction outside of pack members. I backed the Dhole on weaponary and killing ability.
Still ignoring studies of bite force, R-shift, jaw length, biting speed, etc then? It is incorrect, and the studies ^ prove it!
Your biased opinion isn't valid. How an Ocelot kills and Ocelot has no bearing on what it'd do with a canid, mustelid, anything other than a felid. Even then it may treat another felid differentley!
I was more concerned with your ignorant, baseless comments on canids.
You should stop ignoring facts on hyena behaviour and population demographics as 'excuses'. I also didn't ignore the accounts. |

And here is why you fail is no so many debates - you dont listen and have so much to learn. I've repeatedly told you not confuse predation and fighting, yet - "I doubt one could kill a Dhole or similar sized carnivoran from prey taken and lack of interaction with other animals than being killed by larger cats." Think next time.
Small through to big felines kill each other in 1 on 1 fights demonstrating their fighting skill and lethal weaponary. You have a handful of wolf accounts and thats it. So much for "bite force, R-shift, jaw length, biting speed, etc " in a fight.
Its no opinion - "Cats have far more serious 1 on 1 fights than dogs leading to fatalities. Apart from a few instances with wolves, the canine crew can't find any 1 on 1 fatal fights for canines. This is not the case for cats with detailed cases of felines from lynx & ocelot through to lions and tigers killining each others in fights exists. Canines simply are inferior fighters with inferior weaponary." Gave you the chance to counter it and you typically failed, and still can't accept the vailidity of the above.
I'm schooling you on the topic of canids. I wasn't the one googling 1 on 1 fatalities for wild canine species. I already knew the outcome.
Both the accounts or any attempt by you to mount a sensible intelligent case for a Hyena defeating a Leopard have failed. |

So prey only matters when a felid takes impressive items like say...Warthog? But if a canid does something impressive...don't confuse the two!
They're facts, get over it.
Studies dispute this and yet you just can't accept the facts presented above!
You didn't seem aware of Polis' paper.
According to you and you only.

No the Warthog discussion related to grappling and was a clear demonstration of the inability of the Hyena to deal with dangerous opponents 1 on 1. You again failed to counter that in any intelligent manner.
Yeah these are the facts: so much for "bite force, R-shift, jaw length, biting speed, etc " in a fight.
Which studies establish canines as superior fighters with superior weaponary?
You found that in your google frenzy did you?
Thats right, keep consoling yourself with that one Canidae. AnywayI'm locking this cat v rat topic, if you want to continue Canidae find a relevant thread. Tip to you though, next time avoid letting your sensitivities get the better of you. |
