I am curious as to why you would think a fox cant kill a cat in a face to face fight, yet favor it over a bush dog. |

At similar sizes I would rate canids like the bushdog, hunting/fighting dogs such as the terriers and the sbt/apbt over felines. Terriers kill feral and wild cats, the former with regularity. |

You are drunk. A terrier will most definitely kill the a cat a parity, happens all the time. I am certainly going to deny it. |

I'm talking about a parity fight, At average weights a fox will kill a cat as they are usually 10lbs or more heavier then them. Bush dogs are overrated. They are small and don't really look that tough to me. Foxes are bigger and more agile then bush dogs, 1 bite to the back of the neck will dispatch it. |

Yes they do, they target the back of the neck and may give a little shake to break the spine. I've seen it happen before with rabbits. |

If you uses the largest foxes then I agree with you. At parity or a small size advantage, the fox would loose without a doubt. For an animal that possesses a robust neck to aid as defense against intraspecies conflicts, your idea sounds a lot easier said than done. ![]() I would favor this canid over a feline at parity The species is not that small, larger end specimens can weight almost 20 pounds. Humans for size comparison ![]() I don't see why this canid is not impressive in your view.

Why are you so defensive? My cat scares and chases larger canines than her. Ok, a fox can beat a Chihuahua, and? My point is not all canids are dominate over similiar sized small felids. Edited by Kaszilla, Aug 3 2012, 02:57 AM.

Ok, they are impressive, but abit overrated. I'm surprised you favoured the bush dog against a boar raccoon, what are your reasons? |

Because I think a bush dog can match up with what the terrier could dish out. The only thing the wild canid could be lacking is the terrier's tendency to go all out on the offensive the entire fight. The bush dog would be harder for the raccoon to kill than a terrier due to the general robustness this species possesses; not to mention I have not even heard of a smaller terrier being killed by a raccoon in the field. Weaponry goes to the canid as well, the raccoon will have the muscle mass and the strength; but lacks the detention/jaw strength of the bush dog. Remember these wild dogs, were able to severly would a tapir by biting it on not vital areas. So while the raccoon would need to secure a accurate throat hold, something I doubt it could achieve. The bush dog could cause damage wherever it chooses to bite. Edited by Lycaon, Aug 3 2012, 05:42 AM.

a fox is not 10 pounds more than a cat they are the same weight they are just taller a fox is about 10 pounds so is a male feral. What are you smoking k9 boy?monster foxes only exist in areas where they are apex predators on islands and in europe not here in america or canada they are at the bottom of the food chain almost and pretty much live in fear of being eaten by coyotes. bobcats, owls, fishers, they do not get more heavy than a cat. the fox that killed your friends cat might have weighed a few pounds more max not 10 pounds lmao many domestic cats are just crappy fighters deal with it. here foxes and cats live in peace in fear of coyotes. But once in a blue moon a fox might prey on a smaller cat I don't think its common but it can happen with all the fat lazy pathetic cats out there. a big healthy beastly boar coon that lives near my house will kill a bush dog and rat dog put together hes 3 x the size of a tom cat a fox is a much more capable predator than a domestic feral for its size. A fox that can kill an adult marten can kill a cat or a dog the same size as it.I put my life on it. But those are european foxes. Edited by Ophiophagy, Aug 3 2012, 06:04 AM.
