There just not built for it. Something like a 10lb bobcat would easily kill any fox, even if it had a size advantage.
I'd favor a red fox over a 10 pound bobcat. Even tho it is not a true fox, a Culpeo fox would just slaughter it.
A 30lb culpeo against a 10lb bobcat yeah the culpeo wins easily, But make the bobcat 20lbs and you have a dead culpeo. Bobcats are one of the most robust smaller cats.
You did say 10 pounds, so I went along with it. And same goes with a red fox, it can kill that bobcat too.
Now that your saying 20 pounds, we have a different matter.

Still I would favor a 30 pound culpeo over a 20 pound bobcat; at that weight the feline is not at its' prime.
You cant assume it still holds all of the attributes that a 40 pound bobcat possess, yet in a smaller package.

40lbs is not the average, Its more like 25-30lbs. And yeah 10lbs may have been abit low, 15lbs is enough to kill any red fox. A 15lb terrier could also kill any fox

no way the 15 pound terrier would have to be a world champ hunter

a fox will never give up fighting

The canid would have to be 2x times larger (or perhaps more) than an adult Bobcat to have any chance of beating it.

A staff could kill a bobcat at parity. They are more robust than any fox at similar weights.

I don't think so. Most Pitbull/Staff supporters think these dogs blindly run into a conflict (cuz they've seen a few dog fighting videos or whatever), but the dog will end up being savagely mauled. Dog vs Dog is pretty different from Dog vs Wild Cat.

Here's a picture of a small Bobcat against a pack of hounds.

These dogs do run blindly into conflict. A 2x size differrence would be extreme over kill. Even a 10 lb difference. Bull and teriers are more formidable. And hounds are pretty much useless unless they are baying. Some will hold but they usually dont fight the game. I have full confidence in a bull and terrier dog vs a bobcat at parity.

Yeh I do? A Bobcat holding its ground against 4 coyotes and keeping its meal shows the respect Coyotes have for them.
