Wolves do climb though, and dogs.
running up a steep hill or a tree with a big branch (flat angle) is not climbing.
They can still climb.

Though not as well as any feline.
Dogs are worst climbers because of their weaker limb muscles, duller claws that aren't as hooked, smaller paws, and their wrists can't spin or twist to grab around to hold on to the tree (which is why cheetahs are ba climbers).

I think Gray Foxes are the only Canids capable of climbing trees properly.

your youtube link is broken! (remove this string ?app=desktop# )

First youtube video:
This wasn't a climb..the dog uses the speed to run up the tree.

Dholes in trees..still no climb..they uses the branches as a step

Wolves in a tree...come on..the tree is flat..they are walking on a big branch.

My Dutch sources have not reached consensus on this. One says they are good climbers, the other says they do not climb. What is it?

I have no clue. As far as I know, they do climb. Can you post your Dutch sources here?

The problem is, there are no citations. One is from a small carnivore specialist, he also states it in here. The other is the Dutch organization that specializes on wild mammal conservation.

Lol at these comments.

As long as you get up a tree and don't immediately fall back to the ground that's considered climbing or scaling a tree.
