Thats armor wild dog, its just not the same color rolleyes
Proof you may ask? The head is armored, yet it's colored differently. Don't go by looks.
actually no, arthropods have VERY rigid exoskeletons but for movable body parts they need it to be more flexible and soft so they can jump, walk and move. It's common for all arthopods look at the scorpion:

see the fleshy gray parts near the legs? That' s all soft unprotected area to enable the legs to move, tarantulas have it too but it's hard to see becuase of all that hair. Also you can't help but notice it's a different color AND texture it doesn't look plated hard and sleek like the plated armor on the dorsal side instead it looks softer and even has indents and line in it if it was armor it would be in one big shiny plate like the dorsal armor

Your comparing a scorpions legs to the centipedes? Scorpions actually are less armored around the joints then pedes, while spiders have no armor at all.

But how do you know that scorps are less armored around the joints?

Read wild dogs post, scorpion joints poke out more and are more visible.

You're kidding right? Emperor Scorpions are THE BEST armed arthropods, how can you saw their joints are less armed? It's just their legs are proportionately longer so their joints tend to stick out a little but a centipedes' ENTIRE FLANK is unarmored:

ARE YOU SEEING THIS! If it's just "different colored armor" why does it have completely different texture and look?

Scorpions are not the best armored arthropods, thats a common misconception.
Also you forget scorpions don't eat animals alive.
armor comes in multiple colors and textures how many times must I say don't go by looks!? Geez.

ok well what makes you say it's still armor? Armor may vary be species but on a single organism armor usually conforms to one design if the color is different then the armor could be different or SOFTER it might not even really qualify as armor, such as a gator's underbelly. Also You really think the scorpion is going to waste precocious energy making sure its prey is dead when it already has a firm grip on it? Heck NO! When it gets a grip it's going it eat unless it's some intense dire situation where prey is viciously struggling and thrashing the scorpion but there's no way a pede is thrashing a scop at parity. Here's a scorp eating a mouse alive:

I don't know why I needed a video to prove it to you it's not that tough a concept to accept, if a scorp has it's prey under control what's the second step? It eats

I meant among arthropod predators, also what makes you think lobsters and crabs are better armored? Oh wait could it be their looks that might be the reason you posted photos

Wait, have you said they aren't predators? According to wikipedia, they hunt fish, mollusks, other crustaceans and worms.

just for the record
its because the lobsters are actually bigger and really are armored above, side, and below, scorpions are not.
Don't try that reverse psychology crap on me.

Please! Crustaceans are NO WHERE as avid full time predators as the arthropods discussed here, their much more content sifting through sand for nutrients or eating trash than actually actively running out and hunting live prey, even when things like mantis shrimp catch prey it's not very impressive usually some sort of hard shelled mollusk that can't defend itself.
