221 extra the reverse happened in my video.
not really, the pede was running away the whole type focusing all it's energy on attempting to escape and evade the scorp. Now if it decided to get up close and personal and actually confront and try to kill the emperor things would change, the emperor would be given a wide open shot to grab the pede since now the pede is running AT it not AWAY from it.
i was referring to this one

that's a desert hairy scorpion, it has weak claws and thinner armor as well as being less robust
oh my god ok.
Does anyone have a video of a tropical centipede fighting a emperor scorpion? LIke a real fight? This is getting tedious.
sorry dude there' s a huge difference between an emperor and a typical desert scorpion anyone can tell you how well renowned emperor scorpion are for their fearsome crushing pincers but to replace one with a desert hairy is a total downgrade regardless of size. now if it were a more similar species like a giant forest Asian I might accept it

The scorpion was running away; I wouldn't call that a fight more like a flight response & I posted a pic of asian forest scorpion (very physically similar to emperor) getting the best of a similar sized pede.

you reffering to these little guys?

EDIT: It greatly depends on the pede moreso then the type of scorpion

Cherry pick all you want, it was clear they were similar of size & what's your excuse for the flat rock scorpion having a centipede of equal size for lunch???

And your right it does depend more so on the pede species involved because it's clear if it doesn't have a size advantage it can't beat a scorpion!

I wasn't cherry picking.
It depends on the centipede species moreso then the scorpion species. As the smaller centipedes aren't as robust or as dangerous as the peruvian yellow leg or amazonian centipede or the desert ones if they weren't shrimps as i remember ^o)

EDIT: im afraid your edit is incorrect. I proved that wrong already.

lol my bad feathered wind scorpions are camel spiders, still camel spider have killed similiar sized scorpions but anyway
Posted Image
kinda depends on the species of scorpion almost too.
EDIT: Dammit the image won't show, it's a centipede killing a scorpion of similiar size. at least i.m.o.
Before we continue define "similiar size" to me. as i don't get it. Pictures would be helpful

You do realise it takes more than a few seconds for a centipedes venom to kill its prey? It has to not only hold the bat from getting away, but it also must keep itself from dropping the prey AND rely on its back legs to hold its weight and the prey animal. A hummingbird is impressive but the mantis gets them by ambush, centipedes are able to snatch bats mid flight all while being upside down dangling from a couple pair of legs. Also have you seen the centipede vs spider korean videos? 9/10 the pede either kills or the spider retreats. Basically every pede vs insect match the pede is the winner. And scorpions arent a match for centipedes as they have no way to keep it from wrapping them up. Yet scorpions dominate over spiders and other insects etc. you just can't say the mantis is superior just cause it kills birds every blue moon when the pede is able to snatch and hold much larger bats out of the air all while dangling on a few legs from the ceiling.
And that snake looked fine to me, maybe it couldn't do anything because it couldn't defend itself. But it moved perfectly fine so how do you know it wasnt "warmed up". Also how is a snake gonna "struggle" from a pede thats wrapped around it?
you're right it does take more than a few seconds it takes less than a minute is the point, praying mantis must keep themselves from dropping prey, you don't think they hang upside down?:

Also mantids don't rely on ambush as much as you think, they attack hummingbirds out in the open with no cover what so ever:

the hummingbird is totally aware of the mantis and has full view of what it's doing, that's NOT an ambush. A centipedes's size and length makes it a superior fighter to other arthropods but not hunter. Dude mantis don't kill bird's "every blue moon" do you see how many isolated accounts there are of mantis' taking hummingbirds? They make a freakin habit out of it! The snake looked fine obviously becuase the problem is with its internal features not external (that and the video was terrible quality). The video obviously wasn't taken in the bright asn early sun when the snake is energized it might've been before the snake basked so it's body temperature was too low, you could tell by it's lethargic behavior. A normal snake would furiously twist and turn to escape as well as biting it's opponent several times. That's nor what's displayed here, instead the snake just sweeps it's head back and forth a few times before feebly twisting it's body in a slow, desperate manner.

I just realised those are some tiny ass birds.....
have you ever worn a yellow shirt near a flower bed and been flown at by a hummingbird? At first you think they're just bee's then you realize the body shape and flight pattern is totally different, they're pretty small but their quick and hyper active too
Eww no i hate yellow clothing. Im all black, white, n grey BUT I AM NOT EMO!

LOL, Crustaceans not being full time predators, that might be true for a lot of species, but you forget to consider MANTIS SHRIMPS and also pistol shrimps, remipedia(though I doubt it has better armor, BTW the look like the marine equivalent of Centipedes).
Sorry, that was neccesary ;-)

mantis shrmips and pistol shrimps have very impressive weaponry but certainly not impressive prey in terms of size or danger

mantis shrimp prey on snails, crabs, molluscs and rock oysters all are hard shelled and pretty well armored but the mantis shrimp ha evolved to take them out rather easily without much of a fight. While pistol shrimp use their amazing sonic abilities simply to take smaller shrimp, I mean come one they can break glass jars and stun larger fish they have much more potential to gain more food

^ You are totally omitting SPEARER Mantis Shrimps(I would not like having one in a fish tank), and how is taking out larger(which happens) or similary sized crabs unimpressive?
Not every Mantis Shrimp is a Peacock one... Most of their prey is smaller than themselves, but so is the prey of the other contenders.
When they attack robust crabs with thick shells, it can take them several minutes to kill them, often breaking off the crabs arm with their blows
And I do not see how speares are different than the other contenders, they cling onto their prey and eat it.

Not dangerous? Similar sized Crabs have powerful claws that easily could snap them, yet they attack them.
Spearers have attacked somewhat larger Pufferfishes, which are natural predators of Crustaceans.

Not to start that you were excluding Crustaceans because they were no active predators, know they take less impressive prey...

Sorry if I sound somewhat harsh, but this is a matter dear to me. Obviously most people do not know much about Mantis Shrimps except what they get from the Aquarium Trade/Documentaries/Youtube.

I'm sorry but I've never seen a mantis shrimp take out a larger crab

Well, I have seen only one(taking out a heavier crab) on youtube, but that does not represent what they actually do in nature.
Most Aquarium owners seem to be rather reasonable (larger prey means more dangerous prey, and also more expensive), and do not put their pets into unnecessary danger, be it due to financial reasons or being emotionally attached to them. Have you seen people feeding their PET! Mantis/Pede/whatever really dangerous prey? I did not feed anything really dangerous to my Tarantula ot Mantids.

Oh while were are at Mantis Shrimps, I just heard of someone who got his finger by a Lysosquilla. LOL.
