SUPREME master of predation a good predaotr must be versatile and adaptable, let's say the spider's web is breahced by imcoming prey then it's screwed not to mention it totally relies on one and only one physiological aspect, not good As I told you the bat's the pede takes are all tiny, weak harmless species that feed on nectar hummingbirds are more hyperactive and frantic than bats' they can't sit still for a second so when one get's caught it's going to exert every fiber of it's being to get out and expend all of it's energy on breaking free bat's don't have that kind of energy level and can't exert themselves physcially like that, it's not in their lifestyle also all the bat species pede's caught weighedd less than an adult pede while praying mantis have been reported taking brown honeyeaters three times it's size Can I see where snakes were cataloged as pede food? |

Also honey eaters dont compare to fer de lances the pede hunts want to know why? The snakes venom. Also huming birds are no more impressive than the bats pedes hunt. Im sure a centipede could kill a humming bird without much trouble as well. |

fer-de-lances? You're ahead of yourself hear, since hwne do pede's take fer-de-lances? Ok I admit the hummingbird thing was a bit of an overeaggertion but a honey eater three times it's size, that's noteworthy |

I could have sworn you said centipedes killing fer-de-lances wasn't impressive? Must have misread then
Centipedes are three times a mantis size, yet which would win a mantis or a 3x size pede? |

and I'd like to see a pede take a mantis three times it's size. that's beside the point we're talking predation, it's hard enough restrianing a bird 3x your size now a ginat arthropod predator, really? Also I still see no evidence of pede's tkaing fer-de-lances |

You know how stupid that sounds? mantis don't get that big.
If you clearly would have read my last post you would have seen i thought that you said the snake in that vid was a fer-de-lance.
Not really. centipedes hang upside down dangling from a few legs while briefly not only holding on to a frantically struggling bat, but then eating the whole thing upside down. Also tarantulas and water bugs take big prey to. It's not restricted to the mantis like you so boldly claim. |

I'm sorry for the fer-de-lance thing I was confused by what you said and of course mantis' don't get that big it's a theoretical question Also you act as if mantis' don't eat and restrian hummingbird's upside down too, I have never seen a tarantula take prey larger than itself now if you pull the fer-de-lance card on me and refer back to that video let me tell you this: would it be a big deal if a cat killed a black mamba, no now would it be a big deal if a cat killed a python larger than itself? Yes you see in terms of dnager in prey it's always size>venom I definitely agree ginat water bugs are up there with mantis it's jsut there's quite limited info on their predation on snkes and the size of the snakes or how it all went down, we can only assume so much from two pictures and one VERY brief undetailed article |

It can't be shortened anymore but whatevs praying mantis catch hummingbird supside down too since when do tarantulas tak stuff bigger than themselves? Don't know much aobut water bug predation on snake |

Oh sorry i really gotta stop being such a lazy ass. But it seems the main part if im not mistaken is the tarantula part? You never seen the video of the tarantula killing a fer de lance head on? I hear they take birds and lizards too. |

^ would it be a big deal if a cat killed a black mamba, no now would it be a big deal if a cat killed a python larger than itself? Yes you see in terms of danger in prey it's always size>venom, the taking of the fer-de-lance means little. Also the lizards it takes are probably miniscule wall lizards and I've only heard of it tkaing baby birds and one wounded hummingbird |

Actually it is a big deal because you risk dying more from a venemous bite then something bigger than you. Your thinking since its bigger it beats a venemous animal. |
