If you remove the fangs of a centipede, would not have anything to do without the fangs, but if you removed the sting of a scorpion, still would have the pincers. |

Why not? a good pair of pincers could cut in half a centi (or at least cause injuries). |

the pincers of smaller scorpions are VERY weak they're only used to hold smaller prey like a cricket threat don't even really require subduing also armor has nothing to do with anything, scorpions aren't impressive at all, show me any account or video of a scorpion taking something larger than some insect. Even emperor scorpions don't prey on anything bigger than a large grasshopper honestly the only thing notable about them is their amazing claw strength their aggressiveness and overall predatory skill really doesn't seem like too much. Centipedes are not very strong either they need like 6-10 of their front legs to be able to control prey, their tactic of corralling their prey works for their body shape tho and they're quite a force to be reckoned with but their venom always makes their feats less impressive. Tarantula's and spiders don't take very impressive things either , fer-de-lance's (as with many venomous snakes) are overrated by the general public, they're small, thin and not very aggressive a large female Goliath could easily take one especially in an ambush (which seem to be the only cases when the spider will attack). On the other hand a large praying mantis is a REAL force of nature, their speed and precision is unparalleled. Their two front arms are immensely strong being able to hang upside down and dangle hummingbirds from the, they can achieve what centipede's need 8 arms for with only 2. |

Mantis get punked by anything that fights back wild dog. You say centipede arent strong? They overpower tarantulas and scorpions! Something ive never seen a mantis do. Heck a mantis cant even kill a slighty smaller spider without nearly dying. Centipedes wrap around you and restrain your movements. To say a mantis is stronger or more impressive than a spider scorpion or centipede in any way is silly also that whole 2 legs vs 8 thing. You do realise the mantises arms are significantly longer right? Edited by Black Ice, Aug 18 2012, 11:18 AM.
