Yeah, thoes Vinegaroons are absolute beasts. I doubt theirs any Insect that can comfoetably defeat them without venom at parity. I feel like Dragon Headed Katydids are also a worthy foe for many Insects at parity without venom.

My vote goes to centipedes generally, with me admittedly not being confident about scorpions. I don't rate spiders including tarantulas, my champion of the spider world would be the funnel web, even ignoring venom they seem strong and agile and aggressive with huge damaging fangs. I think they stand alone in the spider world and could well compete with centipedes and scorpions. |

I agree but the king baboon tarantula can hold its own in those Japanese bug fights, all others including the funnel web usually didn't make it past 2 rounds. But i think the funnel web was placed against the manticora tiger beetle which never lost i don't think |

I said centipede because of the distinct speed advantage. Centipedes are SUPER fast, and they are also close to the ground so any attacks could easily miss. |

I would rate armored trapdoor spiders, and perhaps trapdoor spiders in general above funnel webs. They are equally as hyper-aggressive, and potentially as potent, with a +1 to armor. ![]() PLATEMAIL! Edited by Creeper, Mar 1 2017, 09:26 AM.

Well they must be related, as funnel webs also lace dirt with web and live in holes. Can other trapdoors leap a metre into the air though? The strength and agility of funnel webs makes me think they'd blend a tarantula into chunks face to face. Don't know much about trapdoors. |

Which species of funnel-web is perpetuated to leap a meter into the air? As far as mygalomorphs go it is my experience that arboreal old world tarantulas are the most athletic when it comes to running and jumping. |

All I know is that whenever a scorpion is even 75% as large as a spider, it wins. At equal sizes, the emperor scorpion over any spider almost every time. |

I think spiders should be replaced with tarantulas in your post. They are most commonly represented in fights with scorpions, because their formidable appearance, but I think at smaller sizes many other varieties of spiders would have a better showing against scorpions. Especially when you get into spiders who produce and spin web extremely fast. For instance I can't imagine a scorpion topping a cellar spider at parity. |
