Can you establish that they were similar weights? I believe Spinosaurus would be somewhat larger.

Oxalaia was approx. Suchomimus tenerensis sized, ~3-4t and the new Spinosaurus estimates place it at ~6-8t. There's no reliable information suggesting oxalaia weighed 5+t.

The only published size estimate for Oxalaia was based directly on Spinosaurus. Therefore if Spinosaurus gets downsized so does Oxalaia. It's skull was estimated at 135 cm long, compared to 175 cm in the largest specimen that has been referred to Spinosaurus (MSNM V4047).

That said, however, now that the big MSNM V4047 rostrum cannot be referred to Spinosaurus with any certainty, we are left with the smaller type specimen, which Scott Hartman restores as having a skull ~158 cm long. So the size difference between Spinosaurus and Oxalaia wouldn't be as big as it was once thought, but it is still very big (Spinosaurus being ~17% bigger in linear dimensions, or ~60% bigger in terms of weight).
