It seems they are quite aggressive, attacking there bigger cousins.
They can often show great aggression when appropriating carrion, though in hyaenid conflicts I think the larger Spotteds would start and also try to end the fight too.
In Hyena Nights and Kalahari Days it was mentioned a group of six spotteds killing a Brownie, and mention was made of other similar conflicts I think, but when later this year I get the official book of Gus Mills' study there I'll see if I can post some good data from it.
