Interesting videos all, the 2 hyaenas vs lioness one was quite impressive on the hyaenas behalf, and also on the Lioness' if that was a buffalo kill.

A badly malnurished (possibly young?) lioness attempting to steal a hyaena kill in Kruger :

yeah those two hyenas was impressive! they did show little respect too the lioness! I have watched the clip a few times and I think maybe the reason they attack so intense is because the lioness turns her back on them, to return to her carcass, and the hyenas may thought it was feeling unsure on the situation! and looks like it's going to run off the sene but stops at the carcass and they then start too fight impressively good to be just two hyenas! I think if the lioness had lay down on the carcass to defend it the hyenas would probably not have attacked, but instead started whooping (its a hyena vocalization who can be used in many ways, also to bing more hyenas to the sene to have the number advantage over an other hyena clans or lions).

The hyenas with the radio collars are huge, I assume they are all females.

The lioness looks injured. I've noticed that when hyenas encounter an injured lion they are more hesitant to attack. I suppose it has to do with the fact that an injured lion will fight to the death since it has nowhere to run, and hyenas are weary of this.

On the other hand, hyenas tend to be more confident when confronting a healthy lioness. They know that 4 or more of them can chase the lioness away - knowing that the lioness will not risk an injury.

There is one case where the leopard don'k kill the hyena with the strangulation , don't insinuate that a leopard can't kill a hyena by throat bite or it is the norm, leopards have killed zebras , elands etc , they would kill a hyena by a throat on the bite without trouble if the leopard is motivated to really do such a thing.
I don't think it's true that leopards have killed adult zebras or elands! they are to big and strong and I have never seen a leopard kill anything bigger than a sub-adult kudu male or young wildebeest! but I imagen a big male can take down quite huge prey if he really wants to but elands and adult zebras are too big..

Jagis: It is not a matter of "i believe", there are accounts of leopards killing zebra, eland etc

http://photo-africa.blogspot.fr/2008/08/five-out-of-five.html

And if you have never see a leopard killing a wildebeest, find better.

Don't looks like sub-adult to me.
