Except that a leopard has no advantage P4P over a lioness or tigress, so you going with the leopard makes no sense. And a 100 KG leopard would be a very freakish specimen, not just a "common" big male leopard.
Did you even bother to read the account? "During the next 11 months, when the resident female was not replaced, a large male leopard intermittently used the area. In January 1988 his 4-5 day old remains were discovered in a patch of partially burnt grass. Canine punctures at the nape of the neck, the vertebrate of which were shattered, as well as wounds on the back left no doubt that he had been killed by a tiger, most probably an adult female. The "adult female" was the tiger, and the one killed was a large male leopard.
Source?
For no reason at all.
It's the exact opposite. Leopards avoid injury to the max since they are solitary hunters, they are not more aggressive at all. About the agility, agility would be almost irrelevant in this fight since the difference ( if there is ) would be minimum, being weight a much more relevant advantage. Agility matters when the difference is very big, which is clearly not the case.
Not at all. The lioness is more than 2 times heavier and would take this every time. |

Searched for that leopard, indeed it's reported that when it was caught it was 108 KG.
Trying to prey on humans isn't an aggressiveness factor, we are prey for them and would pose little injury threat. A different thing is fighting a bigger felid face to face. Also, hunters are far from reliable sources.
Source about being quicker, in fact I think I read somewhere that lions are actually faster than leopards. Being " much more agile " is bullfaeces, lionesses and leopards are both felids with similar morphological features so the difference would be very little. Now provide a little of info of a leopard having stronger shoulders and legs than lionesses, not using pictures as comparison
Age of the lion? And that " draw with a female tiger" was a subadult tigress killed by an adult large male leopard that also died later. |
