The Rottweiler sounds rather demonic, although I would defend my beer in the same way. |

FelinePowah, these howler monkeys sound pretty creepy. Some crocodilian noises: |

Crocodiles can growl?! Never knew that, I normally thought Crocs as silent Reptiles. |

It's interesting how many very different animals make growl-like sounds, even if they are not closely related. Apparently, it's an universal language. |

Cougar hands down for me. Based of personal experiences it has to be the coyotes though. While beautiful to hear on a brisk walk in the morning an sunset, the bastards are quite scary when they yelp next to your tent. Just awhile ago a few were making a storm by my tent as they were trying to eat the ranger's cat. |

What about the mating call of the red fox? I was walking home from my friends house at 01:00 in the morning and I took a shortcut to my house by following a path that goes through the woods and comes out at the top of my street, so I'm walking along in this pitch black forest, no light except for my phone, when all of a sudden I hear this; I froze to the spot for a second, then turned around to see nothing there. I immediately realized it was the call of a fox and went on my way, but my hair was standing on end and I had goosebumps. I had heard the sound before, but only from my bedroom window, the fox sounded like it was standing directly behind me, and it freaked me out bad. |

The sound the koala in the first makes is usually done at night. Every time I go camping I hear them going off at each other like that in the pitch black. |

The most intimidating (sounding) herbivore in the world imo: Most people would probably die of a heart attack if "0:12" or "1:16" happened to them. Edited by ARM0R, Jul 1 2013, 04:07 AM.
