I find it hard to believe that a leopard can kill a Deinonychus. I actually find it pretty hard to believe that any big cat can kill that thing. I am oblivious when it comes to dinosaur combat, so elighten me on the Deinonychus, and where would it stack up against other top predators of today. |

Most large felines of today could take one down, and this is coming from a huge dino fan. Deino was only ~160lbs, and a 400lb lion/ 600lb tiger would have no problem. A Leopard would have quite a bit of trouble, and would only prevail ~50% of the time. |

Any cat under 200lbs won't beat a deinonychus more than 50 percent or 60 if they have a slight weight advantage. I do however believe that bears are too much for either droms or cats though. |

Deinonychus is mostly overshadowed by Velociraptor due to JP and it's inaccuracies. A Deinonychus could fight off a cougar more often than not though, this dinosaur isn't to be underestimated. |

How many subspecies of raptors are there? I know of 3. Utah Raptor, Deinonychus, and another one that starts with a "D". |

They have not to be underrated, at parity, it is common sense they were absolutely lethal, they were not successfull for no reason. |

I really hate how on other forums, they pair up matches like Velociraptor vs Smildon or Deinonychus vs Tiger. |

Last I checked Raptors are overrated. Deinonychus is a raptor and is no way underrated. |

It's really both. People on this forum before I joined used to think they were made of PAPER! Don't believe me? Look at grey wolf vs deinonychus. |

I couldn't say all dromaeosaurids are overrated. In my opinion Deinonychus is both. Overrated arguments: Pack hunters, that can kill much larger than themself prey easily. However the overrating isn't that terrible compared to some other dromaeosaurids. Underrated arguments: Overshadowed by Velociraptor due Jurassic Park, however it shouldn't. JP "Velociraptor" antirrhopus is just Deinonychus itself. Maybe slightly bigger, deadlier, faster and certainly smarter than real one. However public is dumb and think that it's just oversized Velociraptor because it's Velociraptor. So from when real Velociraptor lived in Montana? Ok i would forgive Gregory S. Paul for rename Deinonychus to "Velociraptor" in his 1988's book. Everyone are right to make mistake. But foolishness of public is unforgiven due taking everything as fact. And Dromaeosaurus due people worshipping JFC and well known Jack Horner Pseudo-theory. It's huge doubts that it was big game hunter. Even human-sized animals are pretty big prey for these small carnivores. |
