Should also keep in mind that the guy making those claims is Argentinian.... Edit: I think Pumas from Southern Argentina/ Southern Chile can reach similar sizes to Pumas from Canada/Northern USA.....Its only the Pumas from Northern Argentina/ Northern Chile that are smaller due to the sub tropical climate. I do think some dogs can kill Pumas/Leopard through...it's certainly possible under the right conditions. Edited by tigerburningbright, Apr 8 2013, 12:47 PM.

come on..don't believe any shit you read on the internet. The cougar was killed by a knife not by the dogo. This information was posted on the original video. Some Dogo fans uploaded the video again, now with an absolut different story. Any dog would be killed in a fight against a cougar. You need more declawed and tortured/starved cougars for your dog victory stories. Edited by kuri, Apr 8 2013, 08:53 PM.

Agreed FelinePowah, these stupid Dog fanboys need to get it into their heads that Cougars are the Hulk and are 100% muscle. I think Cougars get biggest towards Arizona, don't know about Latin America though.

You and felinepowah ![]() All one must do is look at the videos of dogo killing puma! But apparently cats are hulk like scythian said. South American puma aren't beasts. Not even close. Edited by Black Ice, Apr 9 2013, 01:01 AM.

These events are created to teach the dogs how to hunt cougar. Whilst the cougar is often de-clawed to protect the dog, they also often aren't as evidenced by the picture. The cats are usually larger than the dogs and rarely seem to be physically harmed (apart from the removed claws). It makes no sense to train a dog how to hunt a wild cougar if the captive animal doesn't act like the real deal. Disclaimer: I don't support these activities, I'm just pointing out the obvious. While the cougars are undoubtedly substandard, it is definitley not to the magnitude you suggest. Once again, I do not support these activities. |

She cared so much about her dogs that they were outside the house probably killing small wild animals, that woman is to blame for both the deaths of her pet and the puma. of course a wild animal is much more valuable. Stupid people. |

Its far more beastly then the Dogo There is a vile youtube video of a puma hunt and in said video the puma beats the crap out of 5 dogs eventhough it has a rope around its neck and is being hung up a tree by some dick head of a human. Edited by FelinePowah, Apr 9 2013, 04:52 AM.

I'd be impressed if I saw a Cougar killing a large Peccary or Caiman, a Capybara is hardly the most impressive type of prey, I don't doubt that a Male Cougar could kill a Dogo, but both are capable of killing A Capy. |

i'm not a "fan" of anything really, the wolf is my favorite animal but I don't let my own personal opinions cloud my judgement, I base my answers to debates on the evidence provided to me, that's why I don't really comment on debates that involve animals I have little knowledge off, like paleontology and marine stuff. And also on the topic of dogo vs puma, in the words of renonwed puma hunter Antonio Nores Martinez: "In Argentina, there is a specialist dog breed, the Dogo argentino, whom was bred as a catch dog for both Boar and Puma. Both in testing in a pen for young dogs before being brought into the woods ("Prueba de Campo"... "Proof of courage") as well as in actual hunting, a single Dogo has mastered and killed a single Puma many times. One must keep in mind that these encounters usually result in extreme injury to the dog even if he comes away victorious. In testing, the dog would not kill the cat, but master it to the ground. When the cat shows signs of submission, he would be split from the dog and the test concluded. In hunting, the dog sometimes does finish the Puma, sometimes the hunter does. One should keep in mind however, that Argentina's Pumas and North America's Mountain Lions are not nearly of the same size, the North American counterpart being significantly larger."
