These events are created to teach the dogs how to hunt cougar. Whilst the cougar is often de-clawed to protect the dog, they also often aren't as evidenced by the picture.
The cats are usually larger than the dogs and rarely seem to be physically harmed (apart from the removed claws). It makes no sense to train a dog how to hunt a wild cougar if the captive animal doesn't act like the real deal.
Disclaimer: I don't support these activities, I'm just pointing out the obvious. While the cougars are undoubtedly substandard, it is definitley not to the magnitude you suggest. Once again, I do not support these activities.

You really think those little scratches have come from a puma that has a full set of claws?? oh come on..... ive seen domestic cats do that kind of damage.

This is why you never seem to learn. If you had read the info posted by gato in the skin info thread, you would find out that horses (the example you used) are more susceptible to clawing than carnivorans (the Dogo).
For example, when two leopards fight, they look more like the Dogo than the horse.

Not on the scale that the pic of the dogo is wanting us to beleive, it only has a few little scratches and puma claws will do far more damage then that regardless of it being a carnivore.

You really think if this dog got into a fight with an adult Puma it would come away with just some little scratches..... lol where are the bite wounds that this dog would of got?? oh sorry this dog was so powerfull and strong it killed the adult puma with out even getting bitten....

What a load of rubbish.

If cougar clawing is anything like these leopards then yes it is very believable.
All that clawing and not much to show from it.

This dog fought and killed a leopard with another dog; while it definitively bears the wounds and typical damaged face, it is not gutted/torn to pieces.
In fact this dog looks a lot like the apparent dogos that fight with cougars, except a little worse for wear.

You've obviously never watched the videos. The first thing the dog does is subdue the head.

ha ha people still think a Dogo can kill an adult Puma...... lol
I assume your referring to my post so I'll make it brief.

1. I don't favor a dogo over a puma
2. That was post was too show that dogos on occasion have killed pumas, though always with serious injury
3. I found it interesting that even men who owned puma killing dogos felt that there dog would stand no chance against against a North American cougar, an opinion I agree with.
If you say any animal has killed a cat felinepowah would deny it regardless lol I guess he never saw the videos. Here's a pic of one dogo after it killed a puma in a cage match. Before felinepowah starts crying and denying a fair fight he should know the puma wasn't declawed (obviously) and both weighed near the same (dogo fought a South American cougar)
