Alright everybody, I'm not a paleontologist by any means but I am a lover of movies, and the Jurassic park franchise is one of my favorites, and I know a fair few of you all feel the same way, not a day goes by were someone isn't posting on what they want the film to be like, who they want to be cast in it and, most importantly which dinosaurs they want to see. So I thought I'd make a thread so we could all post what dinosaurs we want to see in JP4 and why, I'm sure your dinosaur experts will drum up some great, obscure dinosaurs that I've never even heard of but here's the dinosaurs I'd personally like to see in JP4. ![]() 1. The nocturnal, venomous troodon from JP the game. I know if these are the new dinosaurs in the film some people will probably feel cheated because they are small and they've already been featured in the video game. But personally, I love the design and the idea behind these things, nocturnal, pack hunting, venomous predators with eerie glowing eyes, that is a great concept. I think these particular dinosaurs could be used very effectively in the film, if theirs one movie franchise I love it's horror, and horror is one of the most popular genres today. Just look at the success of all the horror movies to come out recently, to me, the idea of these glowing eyed troodon lunging out at people in the dead of night or in a dark enclosed space is really cool and good for jump scares, and movies that make you jump are the ones that say with you the longest, the original JP new this and made use of it in the scene with the velociraptors in the control room you need a fear element to work with the adventure element to make a truly memorable film, and the troodon fits the bill perfectly. ![]() 2. Allosaurus. This is probably the theropod everyone wants to see in this movie, and I can see why. It's just a cool animal, not as big or as powerful as the the tyrannosaurs but still fast enough to run a jeep off the road, I think the addition of a new giant theropod would be welcomed and if they're going to pick any, why not the one the fans are demanding to see? To be honest, theirs probably more giant theropods that I don't know about that could provide an even better candidate, so I'm not really bothered what species the new giant theropod is, as long as it doesn't diminish T.rexes screen time, I'm happy. ![]() 3. Tyrannosaurs Rex. T.rex was my favorite dinosaur when I was a kid and it was everyone elses too, for one reason, Jurassic park. Jurassic park 1 & 2 took an already popular dinosaur and turned it into a superstar. T.rex is the poster child of the franchise, 80% of the people going to watch jurassic park are going for the T.rex, and why shouldn't they love him? T.rex in jurassic parkwas the epitome of cool, and he needs to be restored to his former glory. Don't get me wrong, I liked the spinosaurs in JP3, I thought it made a great addition and it was an awesome animal, but I don't think it should become a trend that the new theropod completely overshadows the T.rex, change is fine but come on, it's the T.rex!! A new dinosaur would be great and revitalize the franchise, but the public want's to see T.rex eating people, smashing down buildings, crushing cars and just generally bringing the pain. So give em what they want, make T.rex like he was in the first two films, so awesome that you were expecting it to bust out of the screen and wreck your whole neighbourhood. Those are the ones I'd most like to see, thoroughly explained. To be honest, I can't see more than one species being introduced effectively because of pacing of the film and money issues, but if they do at least one of the three things I posted I think the movie will be a success, at least to me anyway. |

I'd like to see a horribly off-balanced ecosystem where most vegetation have been consumed by herbivores, which are also declining rapidly. So the theropods might be forced to hunt each other for food. At the end of the movie, I'd like to see all the dinos dead, a second extinction, either due to a ecosystem collapse, or some avian virus. I recently saw JP 3D, one dinosaur name listed in the frozen embryo container was Metriacanthosaurus. It would be cool to see it alive. |

- Sauroniops (unlikely) - Carcharodontosaurus - Ekrixinatosaurus - Tyrannosaurus - Triceratops - Stegosaurus - Troodon - Velociraptor (with feathers and non-pronate hands) - Pliosaurus funkei - Quetzalcoatlus - Saurophaganax - Spinosaurus (maybe) - Mapusaurus - Argentinosaurus - Giganotosaurus - Tyrannotitan - Deinosuchus - Torvosaurus - Allosaurus - Daspletosaurus - Tylosaurus - Spinophorosaurus - Epanterias - Carnotaurus Instead of just one or two animals trolling the characters, why not have a variety? Main animal in Jurassic Park 4 still should be Predator X honestly. |

I agree, it should be some kind of giant marine reptile or a giant crocodillian like deinosuchus, the only problem with a marine reptile is you cannot explain how it was cloned as in Jurassic park they get the DNA from mosquitoes and a mosquito would not be able to extract the blood from a marine reptile |

You keep keeping that laughable idea, no offense, but just stay out of deep water and Pliosaurus funkei is not a threat. And you can stop calling it "Predator X" now, it has a name... |

He was more or less right in his last post, but I think they will actually show a sea reptile in the fourth installment. They already thinked about it in the third movie. The newest would be Carnotaurus though, it was featured in one of the book but never used on the screen. Edited by Monitor X, Apr 13 2013, 04:12 PM.

I agree with you, the ecological issues should be more used in that sequel. After all, so much large animals on such small islands environments would be provok some massive problems. |

Pliosaurus funkei. And Pliosaurus macromerus would be a better option due to its probable larger size (plus it would allow for a passing remark such as "isn't that the giant thing that people thought was Liopleurodon?" Anything to explain away the ridiculous WWD 'Liopleurodon' is awelcome addition!). But pliosaurids are fully aquatic, and wouldn't really work as a main animal. So long as they don't try to appease butt hurt Tyrannosaurus fanboys after their hearts were broken in JP3, i'm good so long as the story is good. |

What's so wrong with having a variety of animals in the fourth film? If anything, I think this will be better for the audience. It's not that animals from the previous films are too mainstream, it's just that people should acknowledge the existence of other formidable prehistoric creatures. |

Old dinosaurs "Velociraptor" antirrhopus* Triceratops horidus Brachiosaurus altithorax or "Brachiosaurus" brancai* Parasaurolophus walkeri Corythosaurus casuarius Ankylosaurus magniventris New dinosaurs Carcharodontosaurus saharicus - as main dinosaur Suchomimus tenerensis Apatosaurus excelsus Carnotaurus sastrei Metriacanthosaurus parkeri That's just my opinion *Note despite according to scientists they certainly belong to other genus, it will be sure that names will be used. |

But come on ! A 2 hours movie is not going to deliver this, it needs character developement, sophisticated plot, fastl rythmed actions scenes...Not a 2 hours diaporama of dinosaurs The list by 7Alx is far more realistic. |
