According to the hunter, this wolf was 100 pounds

This is another wolf. 90 pounds. He died of old age unlike the wolf above.

This male had a very impressive skull (a little over 9 inches long). I was expecting to see worn teeth but it appears as though there was little wear.

Great post. Especially for those that are interested in wolf anatomy. Nothing really new to me as I've skinned my fair share of deer and I've also seen a wolf skinned as well.

Now what gets me a little big angry is the horrible shot placement of the white wolf.. That is nowhere near a vital area (heart and lungs). So, I'm assuming this wolf suffered quite a bit before it eventually died.. Not something you want to do for obvious reasons.
If you can not make a vital shot. Then do not take the shot. No if's or but's. No matter what (unless under threat of course).

Not too sure why a wild wolf had to die for this. Most facilities will donate the bodies of captive wolves for scientific purposes.

As someone who has taken an annoying amount of anatomy, I think the wolf was more interesting alive.

I believe the first few photos was by a sport hunter who was skinning his "trophy." While the 90lb wolf who died from old age was for research studies.

Ah, I thought both were done for the sake of anatomy. I guess that makes it worse for the top one.

That's uhh, somewhat gruesome (I'm talking about the first wolf).

The hunt of carnivora is a nonsense.

No problem with the second, a corpse is a soulless husk of what it once was, but why was the first Wolf killed for the sake of looking at and why is the guy who shot it blind?
Shooting something in the thigh just prolongs the pain.
