It seems the all mighty grappling advantage didn't save the grison from the jaws only as weapons tegu lol nor was the lizard "slow and lethargic" either.

Now imagine if a komodo dragon did this to a large carnivoran. (I won't specify what carnivoran as to avoid a unnecessary rant fest)

M4A2E4 thanks for the great video! Its rare to see two animals fight on even ground that close.

This vid pretty much disproves the belief that mammals can run circles around non lethargic reptiles!
I imagine it is difficult to run circles around anything when your limb is being held and thrashed about.
I wonder - how did the mustelid in the first vid get into this position?
Through the lizard's mouth. lol

But on a serious note, it was first to strike. The initial strike was so fast, I thought they attacked simultaneously. Forelimbs are a crucial element to grappling. It forces the seized animal to attempt to bite at the head of its attacker. Depending on the position its arm is being held, its counterattack could be ineffective simply because it cannot reach a vital area with teeth. It was basically at the mercy of the lizard up until it broke free.

Oh yeah I'm aware that it had it by the leg, but their are people here that literally believe that its nearly impossible for lizards and other reptiles to simply touch a faster and more agile mammal. This vid obviously disproved that belief.

Of course a lizard can grab a mustelid or a cat.
But to me, the most telling part of the video was the ferret forcing this lizard to let it go, and flee. And it was still set to pursue the Tegu!

I'm betting that tegu was attacked by a cat as a hatchling.

Come on and tell us the similarities between a cat and a panthera, and a tegu and a big monitor lizard, it will be pleasant.

For the video, great footage, but the "high pression" of the bite of the tegu does not really damage to the mustelid.

The tegu in the video appears to be a subadult or a smallish female. The immense bite forces that have been recorded in these animals are primarily restricted to mature males. Their bite force spikes exponentially as they approach the 4ft mark.
