Is it just me or is that a tiny Wolf? The Puma looks massive, seems to have huge paws and head, and a cougar having a bigger head than a Wolf is unlikely.

Yeah Wolves are smaller but that things tiny.

I wonder if it is staged. The puma is a bit portly.

No seriously guiz that Wolf is tiny, I know they're smaller than cougars on average, but that thing is the size of a Coyote

Either that or the snow is covering half of its body.

Yeah I've always thought something was off about that image, the wolf looks coyote sized and I find it's position weird, hunkering down whilst a cougar raises it's paw above it's head? It looks a little like a dead or fake wolf draped over a carcass in front of a live puma.

Either way that cougar is beastly.

Yeah the Puma seems to have massive limbs there, although the face looks a bit weird, it looks like the Cougar has a really short muzzle there, even for a cat.

No doubt that was staged....probably filmed at Animals of Montana (company using captive animals for wildlife films and even Hollywood films). Only a few wolves were even present in Montana at the time (pre-Yellowstone reintroduction) and were found in Northern Montana around Glacier National Park. This area does not offer the visibility of Yellowstone and even in Yellowstone (with large wolf and cougar populations) shots like this are not obtained.

Doesn't matter what the title says, it looks like a coyote, I've seen a lot of pics labelled as jaguar when it's actually a leopard, and viceversa.
Here's another photo by Tom Brakefield that might depict the same incident and clearly shows a coyote.
