Gotta love red foxes, used to be regular visitors to my garden, haven't seen one for a while though.. Anyway, thought I'd post some of the different subspecies so we could all compare: ![]() British Red fox ![]() American ![]() Russian ![]() Vulpes abietorum, the British Columbian red fox Anatolian red fox Japanese Red fox ![]() The Alskan fox, a pretty big subspecies. Theres loads more subspecies, these are just a few, I think we should make a photographic compilation of every red fox subspecies here, the differences in morphology between subspecies can be much greater than you might assume, and I'm told there are also behavioral differences as well Edited by Full Throttle, May 11 2013, 08:32 AM.

Cheers, and doesn't the Alaskan fox look like it's about to get mugged by the bear it's walking all fancy through a rough part of the forest, and the bears like, "you came to the wrong neighbor hood"...

Giant 35 lb fox next to normal-sized individuals. Compare it the golden jackal below; ![]() I've taken care to resize the second image so that the fox is the same size as the normal-sized ones in the first picture. Edited by MightyKharza, May 15 2013, 06:35 PM.
