Goanna wins in battle with tiger snake
Posted Image
"Ever wondered who would win a fight between a goanna and a tiger snake?
Judging by the sorry state of this tiger snake, lodged firmly between the jaws of a 1.5m goanna, you need wonder no longer.
Sam Newbury was driving along a four-wheel-drive track in Walpole-Nornalup National Park on the long weekend when he came across the gruesome sight of the goanna enjoying its latest meal.
“I had a closer look and thought ‘jeez, what’s going on there?” he said.

“We put the brakes on and had a look, the goanna was sort of stopped still. I got my camera out and took a photo and then it just shook its head and ran off into the bush.”
The goanna was photographed devouring the snake head-first. A mark on the snake’s body indicates there had been a tussle before the snake’s death.
“I got quite a shock because tiger snakes are infamous for being really aggressive,” Mr Newbury said."

A cool account of 3 male Lions preying on a young Hippo.
Posted Image

In 2006 photographer Andrew Schoeman was awoken in South Africa's Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve by distress calls that he soon found out had come from the hippo, which was cornered in shallow water by the big cats.

The "plucky" hippo put up a good fight, charging the lions repeatedly, according to photographer Schoeman.

Packer thinks the hippo may have been ill: "It is very unusual for lions to chase a hippo into deep water—they must have known it was too weak to escape or fight back."

But Hunter suggests the hippo somehow got isolated from its herd, leaving the youngster vulnerable.

Posted Image
At one point the lions hid on land until the injured hippo emerged from the water. The predators waited until the hippo got about 160 feet (50 meters) away from the water hole before chasing after him (pictured).

Posted Image
In a bid to get the lions off, the hippo fled back to the water hole (pictured).

Posted Image
The lions—now joined by a third male—attempt to flip over the hippo.

Posted Image
Eventually the lions flip the hippo, drowning it.

Faced with the approach of a voracious sunflower star, the keyhole limpet unleashes its secret weapon. It will take teamwork to ward off this predator.

In cold and temperate water habitats, starfish, especially asteriid starfish are often predatory.
ESPECIALLY on mollusks! Famously on bivalves and clams but also quite a few gastropods aka snails.
